Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman and Managing Director of Superhouse Group is a true baton carrier of family business i.e. Saddlery and Leather. His grandfather Chaudhary Mohammad Amin was the first in the family to begin manufacturing saddles for the cavalry of Scindias of Gwalior. Mr. Amin’s father Late. Chaudhary Ehsan Karim carried on the business of manufacturing finished leather. In 1975 while Mr. Mukhtarul Amin was still an undergraduate, joined the company known as Super Tannery, which was into manufacturing leather, as a Director. He later started his own small shoe upper manufacturing unit. His vision was to establish a company of international presence and respectable size in Indian context of leather industry. In 1986, he established his own company, Superhouse Limited and took the company to public, which later went in for first public issue and became the first Leather Company to have such recognition.

Mr. Amin took initiative to see growth of leather industry in India. Following are firsts that took place:

-Safety footwear leather exports from India started

- First to make special Din Leather with German collaboration

- Started making uppers for exports to UK and Europe

- First to make PU safety footwear and started exports.

Mr. Mukhtarul Amin established several other units specializing in manufacture and export of fashion footwear, safety footwear, leather garments and assorted leather goods at Kanpur, Unnao, Agra and Noida. He has also established a textile fashion garments unit at Noida and textile safety garments unit at Unnao.

The thirst for ambition to see Superhouse Group to acquire the multinational entity continued and he established subsidiary companies and depots in overseas countries. The company has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary in United Kingdom in the name of Superhouse (U.K.) Ltd. in March’98 having its registered office in London, which is primarily engaged in the marketing and distribution of leather and leather products. The group also has two more foreign subsidiaries, involved in trading of leather products primarily of parent company, namely Superhouse (USA) International Inc., USA and Superhouse Middle East F.Z.C., in U.A.E. In May 2011, the group acquired Briggs Industrial Footwear Limited, a U.K. based company incorporated in 1944. One more company named Linea de seguridad sl in Spain was acquired in Aug 2012. Both these companies are engaged in the marketing/production of safety footwear.

The turnover of Superhouse Group is more than USD 150 million for the financial year ending as on 31st March 2012, under the efficient leadership of Mr. Mukhtarul Amin.

Mr. Mukhtarul Amin was the Vice Chairman of Council for Leather Exports for 2 years i.e. 2003 to 2005 and Chairman of the Council from 2007 to 2009. Council for Leather Exports is an export promotional body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. During the tenure as Chairman of Council for Leather Exports, Mr. Amin had an ambition to see the growth of leather industry of India. Exports had touched a level of USD 3.05 billion, recording a growth of 11.15 percent over the previous year 2005-06. Exports went on increasing to USD 3.54 million during 2007-08 and remained more or less at the same level during 2008-09.

He also took a giant step to improve market promotion activities and publicity measures that the Council took, started to yield good results as Indian exporters could be able to penetrate into the overseas markets of Europe, USA besides other potential countries. CLE had the opportunity to participate in the Footwear News CEO summit in USA during May 2007. This was the first ever participation of CLE in this important and high profile event of the American footwear industry. Another important event during his tenure was the organization of 26th International Footwear Conference (IFC) in Chennai during Aug 2007. This was the first time that India was given the honor to host this prestigious event. Road shows were organized during his tenure in Romania, Brazil, France, UK, Italy, Spain, Austria and Ukraine. Outcome of these road shows was that it created awareness about India’s manufacturing capabilities/growth potential and motivated the foreign entrepreneurs to invest in India. It was during Mr. Amin’s tenure as Chairman of CLE that Dept. of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India had notified the ILDP for the overall industrial growth of leather sector.

Mr. Mukhtarul Amin has been very recently appointed as the Chairman of Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Noida that is the largest footwear-training institute in the world having 7 campuses located in Kolkata / Fursatganj / Chennai / Chindwara / Rohtak / Noida and Jodhpur.

Mr. Amin’s aim to help the leather industry in Unnao and Kanpur took him to establish a world class

Testing Laboratory and Training Centre. To achieve this, he established a company backed by leather industry of Kanpur and Unnao, which is known as Kanpur Unnao Leather Cluster Development Company Limited. This company has taken up establishment of world class Testing Laboratory and Multi Skill Development Centre in Kanpur under ASIDE Scheme.
